Opening Nationally!

The Heart of the Game opens June 9th in New York at the Angelika, in Los Angeles at the Archlight, and on June 16th at the Guild 45th in Seattle. The first days and weeks after an opening are critical to a movie's long-term success. Please help get the word out and let's rock the house with Heart! Group ticket sales for organizations, parties or businesses are also a cool way to go.

Look for The Heart of the Game also opening June 16th in Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Boston, Washington DC and at least forty other cites later in the summer.

Never Give Up

Maud Lepley said these three prophetic words to the Roughriders in the locker room, and it became my mantra over these past many years — even on days when I did give up! But through it all I never forgot the hundreds of people who gave selflessly to help this movie come to light. To all of you my deepest thanks! In my director's notes to the movie I wrote this:

At its deepest The Heart of the Game is about TEAM and about how people pull together as one to help each other out. It is about never giving up and taking that next step forward however difficult or frightening. And how each step might just culminate in some triumphant moment that we couldn't see if we had not persevered on that path.

On the verge of launch after seven years of on-and-off the court trial and triumph I am reminded of the two greatest words The Heart of the Game has taught me:

Love Works.

— Ward

"Sink your teeth in their necks! Draw blood! That's no vampire, just Bill Resler the tax professor turned basketball coach..."

— B. Ruby Rich, San Francisco Bay Guardian
